At Grit, success isn’t just measured in sales – it’s measured in impact. We believe true grit means lifting others as we climb.

Our most ambitious project yet took place in a remote region of Peru, far from tourism hubs like Cusco. In this isolated area, aging residents rely on farming and manual labor—work that’s becoming harder to sustain. To support long-term economic growth, we partnered with the community to build a tourism center that boosts local livelihoods. With 410 volunteers, we created a covered kitchen for older women to cook and sell meals, a soccer field with concrete bleachers, and a market for artisans to sell handmade goods. We also added a mountaintop lookout, a children’s play treehouse, an Airbnb treehouse for overnight stays, and a campground with cooking facilities. This diverse project brings vital services and new tourism-based income to the region.

In the region of La Romana, many families face extreme poverty and often struggle to provide regular meals for their children. To help meet this need, our team of 350 volunteers built a large, multi-purpose community center to allow for access to government food programs– support that is only available when a proper facility exists. The center includes dedicated spaces for young children to learn and play, as well as areas for older youth to hang out. In addition, we constructed a full-size soccer court and a huge playground, creating a safe, welcoming environment where children can play freely and receive the nourishment they need.

In the peaceful community of Otavalo, our team of 240 volunteers undertook major construction efforts across two expansive school sites. The work included pouring and finishing thousands of square feet of concrete for new flooring and foundational work—transforming old, uneven surfaces into safe, durable spaces. We built several classrooms at each school and invested heavily in outdoor play areas, building two large recreation areas complete with full basketball courts, custom playground equipment, and a handcrafted treehouse. These spaces now serve as vibrant hubs for learning, play, and gathering within the community.

In the Veracruz area, Grit’s group of 130 volunteers supported the renovation of three school campuses, improving infrastructure with concrete repairs, fresh paint, new roofing, and more. Additionally, we constructed new classrooms tailored to the needs of different age groups, creating a safer and more supportive learning environment for students of all ages.
